The names of the persons in quarantine should not be published
Concerned with the publication of news with the names and surnames of the persons ordered to be isolated in quarantine due to coronavirus, the Ombudsperson Institution has publicly addressed the portals in Kosovo.
The Ombudperson asked the journalists to fulfill their legal obligations and to do more in the protection of personal data of those who are in quarantine, self-isolation, with Covid-2019 and hospitalized, except in cases when the person gives consent of this. This institution has stated that the Constitution of Kosovo in Article 36 [Privacy Law] regulates this issue, as well as Law No. 06/L-082 on Protection of Personal Data, Law No. 04/L-125 on Health, and the Law No.2004/38 for the Rights and Responsibilities of the Kosovo Residents in the Health Care.
