Prishtina marks International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

On May 17, 2020, in Pristina, was marked the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. On this day, the Ombudsperson Institution drew attention to the LGBT group as one of the most vulnerable groups in the country.

The institution noted that constitutional guarantees for human rights are fundamental values for a democratic society and that the Law on Protection from Discrimination provides a general framework for protection against discrimination and concretizes the provisions of international conventions and the Constitution.

Furthermore, when it comes to respecting the right to decide on gender identity, which is also foreseen by law, the Ombudsperson has welcomed the establishment of justice by the courts to respect the right of persons to decide on their gender identity.
